The Deputy Mayor
Cllr Matt Knight
Matt grew up in Shropshire, went to university in York and lived in both London and Middlesbrough before choosing to settle in High Wycombe in 2000 after getting married to Katharine. They have two children, Rosina and Isaac.
Despite not being Wycombe born Matt has a strong sense of community spirit and enthusiastically threw himself into local life in Micklefield. For over ten years he ran a community newspaper, Spotlight, with a group of other residents. Over the years Matt has helped with many different community groups. He was part of the team that took over Micklefield Library and ran it after it had been closed by the council and then secured the funding for the new library. In 2015 Matt and Katharine formed a not for profit social enterprise and secured the lease on an empty shop in Micklefield Road. Working with other residents the shop was transformed into the popular Hills Café which offers a vital social link for residents and opportunities for people to build skills and confidence through volunteering.
Matt is a qualified Occupational Therapist and worked in NHS mental health services but now works for local mental health charity Wycombe Mind.
